Equity & Equitable Practices Training
Investing in equity and equitable practices at work.
Duration: 1.5hrs
Description:
When organizations invest in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), the portion of the work that is most often ignored, misunderstood, or undervalued is the part we call equity. What is equity? How is it applicable to our products? Our services? Our internal systems? And why is it important?
These are questions that often arise amongst employees and this workshop provides answers. This workshop offers participants a framework for applying what we call an “equity lens” to many of the decisions made and processes put in place day-to-day. It helps participants understand why equity can be powerfully enhancing to much of what they do, as it ensures their activities more effectively and fairly benefit everyone involved.
Central Questions:
What is equity and why is it important?
What is the difference between equity and equality and why should we prioritize equity?
What does equity look like and why does it matter within the work we do?
How can we apply an equity lens to our workplace and the work we do?
What best practices can I implement to ensure I am framing my work around equity principles?
How can I commit to centering equity in my work in the long-term?
Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will have:
An understanding of what equity is and why it is important to consider and implement equitable practices at work.
An ability to identify areas within the workplace that could benefit from improvements derived through an equity lens.
A set of strategies designed to apply an equity lens to systems, products, services, and/or day-to-day employee experiences.
Clear examples and a resulting tactical plan for applying lessons from this workshop to upcoming projects and interactions.
