Our Story

In 2012, when Trayvon Martin was senselessly and violently murdered, our CEO was a teacher in a classroom, finding her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion while facilitating conversations about racial injustice with her students and fellow educators. Since then, Natalia Eileen Villarmán has spent years working on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and programs in several industries, including tech, professional services, and nonprofit.

Eight years later, in 2020, Natalia launched Seen@Work, a management consulting firm focused exclusively on providing training, assessments, programming, and strategic services related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB).

Today, Seen@Work supports individual DEIB champions through its resources, and organizations seeking to advance their DEIB approaches through its services, all in the hopes of attaining a simple yet profound goal: creating the conditions that allow all employees in every workplace to feel represented, valued, respected, included, and seen at work.

“When someone feels seen at work, they feel free to be the person they’re meant to be and everyone benefits.”

- Natalia Eileen Villarmán

Our Approach

At Seen@Work, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions.

The journey of building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace does not (and should not!) look the same at every organization. Our goal is always to understand your institution’s unique needs, challenges, and goals so we can meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be. Whether you are just beginning your diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) journey or a company filled with advocates wanting to dig deeper, the Seen@Work team is prepared to offer you exactly the support you need.

We are a full-service diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) consulting firm.

That means we offer expert assistance ranging from training to employee programs to recruiting overhauls to audits, and much more. We are proud to say that the majority of our work is with returning clients who complete an initial project (perhaps an Unconscious Bias workshop or a Recruitment Gap Analysis) and come back for more.

Our services and principles are crafted around peer-reviewed research, industry-proven best practices, and diverse expert perspectives.

We believe in the power of evidence-based, data driven solutions. The Seen@Work team leverages decades of advanced professional experience and academic study in fields like people analytics, institutional and social psychology, inclusive education, human capital management, social justice theory and history, non-profit advocacy, and business administration to craft an unparalleled, interdisciplinary understanding of what it takes to make an organization truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
